WHY NOT EXPLAIN THANKSGIVING, TALK ABOUT DIVERSITY AND THANK OUR VETS? RAVENCREST PUBLISHING OFFERS RANDA HANDLER’S THANKSGIVING DINNER PLATTER IN POD

Ravencrest Publishing has just offered in Print On Demand, (POD) Randa Handler's children's book, The Thanksgiving Dinner Platter, (ebk) ISBN:978-1-932824-50-6; POD ISBN:978-1-932824-52-0. Designed by Suzanne Parrott, this fun book explains why Thanksgiving is more than Turkey Day and introduces kids to a similar celebration in Japan. It takes place in 1941 when Thanksgiving became a national holiday and features the friendship between a Native American boy and a Japanese-American little girl. It even includes a real recipe for cornbread just like the one served at the first Thanksgiving dinner eaten by the pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians at Plymouth Plantation. Book concludes with the kids sharing their bread with the VETS.

Handler's book highlights diversity, not common in mainstream children's books. "There is an outcry for the need of children's books with diverse characters. Recently, the #WeNeedDiverseBooks tweet went viral. And, I hope my books help to fill some of that void!" shares Handler.

Handler's agent, Italia Gandolfo said, "I love how Randa always includes international twists or incorporates multi-ethnic characters in her stories. It's such a clever way to instill in kids an acceptance and love of diversity. Randa's books are earning rave reviews from parents and teachers. If anyone can inspire youth, it's Randa."

"This is an interesting story – involving Americans, Japanese, and American Indians – that children will enjoy as they learn several important lessons: that each culture has its own way of giving thanks for the blessings it receives and all are good, Thanksgiving is "not only being grateful for good fortune but helping others less fortunate." — Dr. Israel Drazin, Top Amazon Reviewer.

"What a great holiday read for youngsters-and their adult caregivers! The Thanksgiving Dinner Platter could well become a seasonal classic!" — Jim Loud.

Randa Handler is an international journalist, publicist, and publisher. In 2003, her publishing efforts launched an educational series of children's books that are still being used as 'lesson plans' by elementary school teachers. She has published four other books that relay real life concepts to instill in kids an appreciation of differences. Cubbie Blue and His Dog Dot (Cubbie Blue series; book 1; 978-1-932824-23-0 (ebk), and What's up with Mike? Cubbie Blue book 2; 978-1-932824-25-4 (ebk), a fantastical series populated with multi-ethnic and multi-cultural characters, were released fittingly on UN Day.

Book one sets the stage for the series about the adventures of three boys and their special friend Cubbie Blue and his even tinier dog, Dot, while Book 2 follows the kids as they learn how to deal with a blind friend. If I Were King ISBN: 978-1-932824-21-6 (hc) $15.99; 978-1-932824-20-9 (ebk). In this fun animal tale, a feisty zebra, who is not interested in hanging out with other zebras, decides to befriend unlikely jungle characters, learning along the way what makes each special. And finally, The Boy Who Spoke To God, ISBN: 978-1-932824-18-6 (hc); 978-1-932824-19-3 (ebk), A young Greek boy, in this folk tale, helps feuding tribes find peace & harmony via his dreams of a perfect God.
